Pay & Benefits
Pay Rubric
To promote equity and provide a path for growth at our schools, we follow a pay rubric. The rubric uses the employee's role at Apple Playschools, professional experience, and education background to determine a level and starting pay rate. After that rate is determined and an employee is hired, employees are able to earn raises through advancing their skills and studies, applying for a promotion, tenure on the Apple Playschools team, or through organization-wide discretionary increases passed by the Board of Directors.
Yearly salaries listed above are estimated for people working full time (40 hours per week), year round.
*Substitute teachers work as-needed. Because Substitutes are not eligible for benefits and are not guaranteed hours, they are paid a flat hourly rate.
**Because our team at Manzanitas Spanish Immersion Playschool is double the size of our other schools, the higher end of this range represents the pay rate for a Program Director at Manzanitas.
***Flex teachers working a regular schedule of less than 20 hours/week or for a pre-determined temporary period of less than 90 days, such as staff working seasonally, are eligible to receive +$1 to their pay rate since they are NOT subs, but are ineligible for benefits.
